We're all about good food and good times! From grazing tables and buffets to family-style feasts, we've got your back. Think oyster bars, paella, taco bars, and hearty soup and chili feeds for the whole crew. And when it's time for a cozy dinner with your favorite people, we've got the perfect plated, multi-course meals for up to 20 guests.

Portside’s grazing tables and buffets are as much a feast for the eye as for the palate.  Portside creates special opportunities for guests to sample an array of local, artisanal and small batch products as well as scratch-made spreads and condiments. The tables catered are a perfect solution for cocktail parties, corporate events, wedding receptions, baby showers, birthday parties and casual dinner parties.. Although the grazing boards and tables look (and are!) luxurious, they can be a more affordable and casual alternative to traditional catering requiring minimal staff and prep time. You provide the table, we’ll provide the rest.

Your grazing table will include:

A selection of cheese and charcuteries, house roasted nuts, marinated olives, pickled vegetables, dips, jams, fresh and dried fruits, crudité, crackers & bread, floral decor to match your vision and style. Depending on how much of a meal you are wanting to provide your guests, a variety of small bites, proteins, salads, and buffet items specifically designed for mingling and grazing can be curated to your budget and taste.

General Breakdown of Cost:

The cost of food prep and clean up is included in the food cost price.

FOOD AND FLORAL You can expect the costs to range between $25-$75 per person. This is variable depending on the amount and type of food you are interested in providing your guests (obviously).

ADDITIONAL COSTS ON YOUR QUOTE will include service, rental or compostable service ware costs, travel (if outside Marin county), and tax.

LABOR We charge $375 per chef or server required at your event for an 8 hour day, including pack out, event time, and time onsite. If your event requires staff to stay longer than 6 hours, we charge an additional $45 per hour. 4-50 guests require a minimum of 1 chef and 1 server.  We need an additional chef and server for every 40 additional people. Event space set up and/or breakdown  including tables, chairs, and decor (outside of the grazing table) will require additional labor.

More Services

  • We are happy to coordinate rentals for you at a 20% markup. We typically use Bright or A Party Center in San Rafael. Rental costs will vary depending on your needs. Taking a look through their websites will give you a good idea of what your costs might be.

  • We are able to provide bartending services at a charge $375 for the evening. We are not licensed to provide any alcohol or beverages, but can provide tea and coffee service, curated batched cocktails (recipe and making onsite), barware (not including glassware), and a professional bartender with a smile.

  • We use 100% compostable materials for our buffets including palm leaf and sugarcane plates, paper napkins, and bamboo and corn plastic cutlery. We pass our cost for these items directly onto you, with minimal to no additional markup.

  • We never add on standard service gratuity as we believe that should be left up to you, and given at your discretion based on the level of service provided. We believe tipping was invented “To Insure Prompt Service”

    Our chefs and servers work hard and sure do appreciate it!

 A full on graze doesn’t fit your vision? We also do intimate dinner parties, soup feeds, paellas, oysters, taco bars, and more. Servicing crowds from 50-500.

Partial Catering;

If you are looking to entertain, but have a smaller group or don’t need full service, consider having us drop off and set up your fully compostable spread. We offer a standard gaze at $19 per person, or a premium graze at $25 per person.  This includes (in light appetizer portions) cheese, charcuteries, dips, house made pickles, olives, nuts, seasonal crudité and fruit.  You may select additional small bites from our menu, a la carte, priced per order.

Delivery and set up is $350 for up to 50 guests.. Every additional 40 guests requires an additional set up chef at a rate of $150 per chef.  This includes design,  greenery and florals. The end result is a spectacular grazing buffet you can roll up at the end of the event and toss into your compost bin.  We also offer compostable palm and sugar cane plates, napkins, and bamboo utensils at an additional charge. You can expect the food to cost between $19-$55 per person (depending on your selections) plus set up, tax, and compostable. Set up is approx. 60-90 minutes.

Carryout Catering

Select from our platters, snacking cones, small bites, soups, salads and pantry items online and arrange to pick up order in store. Need a full meal for your group? Choose from one of our prefix menus. We appreciate one week's notice for larger orders and will do our best to accommodate your order when less.  We use sturdy, wooden, display ready boards for our platters. Our small bites are beautifully packaged in paper and sugarcane bakery boxes.

We have a small and cozy store front and pantry and offer a large rotating selection of soups, stews & braised meats both fresh & frozen. We stock convenient frozen items such as premade salmon cakes, bean burgers, and savory hand pies. Let us be your healthy, wholesome weeknight dinner solution. We have cookies, too! 

 Our pantry is stocked with homemade goodies including dips, pickles, nuts, hand picked rotating cheese selections and charcuteries,  dips, condiments, crackers & snacks. Snag everything you need to build your own grazing table or party platter. 

Our rotating menu of fresh selections for the week is emailed to our SS fam (make sure to join!) and posted on the website each Sunday afternoon. Fresh selections that week are ready for pick up by Wednesday. 

Pre order is available for pick up Wednesday-Saturday during store hours and deliveries happen Wednesday between 2-5pm

We are located at 1605 Sir Francis Drake Blvd in Fairfax, CA. We are one block East of the Good Earth on the south side of the street. Customer parking is right in front.
